Delivering Support to the Al Nelson Friendship Center Food Pantry at Wild Oats Market

The Co-op was proud to present a check for $2,041.38 to the Al Nelson Friendship Center Food Pantry last week, thanks to the generous donations from our community through the August 2025 Every Penny Counts Program.

These funds will directly support the pantry’s mission to serve our neighbors in North Adams, Clarksburg, and Florida Mountain with dignity and respect. Your donations help:

  • Feed families facing food insecurity with healthy, nutritious meals

  • Provide baby essentials and children’s books to households in need

  • Deliver supplies to those unable to travel

Photo above features our General Manager, Netse L., with Kurt Gabel and Mark Rondeau from the Friendship Center at the donation delivery in front of the store. Their pantry is currently seeing a 5–10% increase in local needs and is actively seeking volunteers, especially drivers for Thursday deliveries.

Located at 45 Eagle St. in North Adams, the Friendship Center Food Pantry welcomes support from anyone able to help. To volunteer or donate, please call 413-664-0123.

Thank you for making Every Penny Count.

Your time, your voice, your support, it all matters. Let’s keep showing up for each other. Meet Joyce and learn how to get involved . . .

Joyce from the Al Nelson Friendship Center Food Pantry visited the co-op (Friday, Aug 22, 2025 10AM - 2PM) to meet our shoppers and share updates!

She’s not just a board member, she’s a passionate advocate for food access in our community, and we were thrilled to welcome her as the representative of our current Every Penny Counts recipient. If you round up at the register in August, 2025, your generosity will help support their vital work in Clarksburg, Florida, and North Adams.

Our shoppers got to stop by to meet Joyce, hear firsthand about the growing need for volunteers, and learn how they can help families facing food insecurity. The pantry is seeing increased demand, and they’re looking for helping hands (especially on Wednesdays and Thursdays) to assist with food pickup and delivery for neighbors who can’t travel and more.
