March 2023 Program Recipient

The March 2023 Every Penny Counts Program donations are delivered! When you #shoppedthecoop at Wild Oats Market in March 2023 guests donated to this non-profit NORTHERN BERKSHIRE HABITAT FOR HUMANITY at the checkout. They continue to need help so please watch for the upcoming 8’ x 10’ Garden Shed raffle. The shed will have two windows, two doors and an entry that fits a tractor too.

In April 2023, we were excited to meet with this non-profit partner to thank our community together for their generous donations to make Every Penny Count for them, NORTHERN BERKSHIRE HABITAT FOR HUMANITY

On 4/21/2023,, Netse Lytle our General Manager of Wild Oats Market delivered 100% of all March 2023 Every Penny Count program donations made at our registers when guests checked. A check for a total of $2,299.77 was hand delivered to Keith Davis, President of NORTHERN BERKSHIRE HABITAT FOR HUMANITY and many volunteers on their team. They work hard to help provide shelter to members of our local Nothern Berkshire community.

We thank you for all your support and for making your spare change count! It really does make a difference in our community when you #shopthecoop

NORTHERN BERKSHIRE HABITAT FOR HUMANITY is a local non-profit actively working to fulfill Habitat’s vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live.  Volunteers partner with lower-income families to build a home that the family can own and call home.

NORTHERN BERKSHIRE HABITAT FOR HUMANITY is affiliated with Habitat for Humanity International, founded in 1976. We partner with lower-income families to build houses that the families can call home and can own with an affordable mortgage.  We empower our home owners to become rooted members of the community, providing security to enable families to grow and prosper. Founded in 1990, Northern Berkshire Habitat for Humanity has been working to meet the housing needs of Adams, Cheshire, Clarksburg, Florida, New Ashford, North Adams, Savoy, Williamstown, and Stamford, VT. Our major projects include building new homes and renovating existing houses. As of today, Northern Berkshire Habitat has completed 14 home buildings or renovations, serving 14 families and an estimated 68 people, including parents, children and foster children. We have also performed seven Brush With Kindness critical repair or ramp projects impacting 12 people, and run a special program for Veterans. With the support of Habitat volunteer builders and financial contributors, homeowners achieve the strength, stability, and self-reliance needed to build a better life for themselves and their families. We are currently working on a house on Maple St in Williamstown, to be completed this fall.  Our next houses are planned for Summer St in Williamstown, on land that the Williamstown Affordable Housing Trust bought for this purpose.

Thank you for your support in helping us help the local area in need!

ABOUT WILD OATS MARKET

Wild Oats Market Local, organic, & specialty community-owned co-op grocery store! Everyone can shop & Anyone can join.

We contribute regularly to non-profit organizations serving our community, with a focus on those groups helping in areas central to our mission and ends policy.

Wild Oats Market began as a buying club in 1975 organized by a small group of motivated people who wanted unrefined, additive-free foods and products with minimum packaging.

In 1982, our storefront operation started with only 100 members and $5,000. As the years passed, we attracted a growing number of individuals interested in health and the environment, as well as organic and natural foods, and supporting the efforts of local farmers and artisans.

Because we’re a co-op, Wild Oats’ member-owners have always been able to make sure that its actions reflected their commitment to local and organic food, sustainable living, social responsibility and related concerns. Our Cooperative Principles and Ends Policy continue to guide us nearly 40 years later.

We expanded to our present location at 320 Main Street in 2005, giving us more space to offer a wider selection of options. Today we have more than 1600 member-owners and specialize in local and organic produce, fair-trade and allergen-free grocery items, artisan cheese, locally and sustainably raised meats, regional craft beer and organic wines and all the amazing house-made items from our kitchen and bakery.
