Indigenous Peoples’ Day

Like many of our fellow co-ops all across the country, and a long list of organizations right here in our own community, we honor Indigenous Peoples' Day today and the significance of its first-ever recognition at the Federal level.

Earlier this year, our Board of Directors chartered the Wild Oats Anti-Racism, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (ARDEI) Committee, which is tasked with guiding the Board through a process of learning about “issues relating to anti-racism, diversity, equity, inclusion, and food justice, with special focuses on the experiences of Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) and socioeconomic diversity,” and with helping it evaluate existing and draft new policies in pursuit of greater diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice.

More information about this committee and its work will be available at our Annual Meeting on December 7th.

Many of our customers enjoy the Little Free Library in front of our store. Here's a suggested reading list for all ages from that organization as we work to further educate ourselves about Indigenous Peoples' Day.
