Thank You - Your Kindness Matters: January Check Delivered Despite the Snow

The snow piled by the sign didn’t deter the co‑op’s check delivery today. Amy (Wild Oats Market) met with Matthew (Berkshire Food Project) to deliver the January 2026 Every Penny Counts shoppers donations.

We are deeply grateful for every person who chose to round up or give - your generosity continues to strengthen this community in meaningful, tangible ways!

Matthew shared this heartfelt message:

Berkshire Food Project is so grateful for the generosity in this local community and to our community partners like Wild Oats. Every Penny truly Counts and is used to nourish our guests in mind, body and spirit. We welcome anyone to join us! BFP operates Monday - Friday for a no cost, homemade lunch from 11:30-1:00 at the First Congregational Church, 134 Main St, North Adams, MA 01247. No questions asked… ALL ARE WELCOME!”

Wild Oats Market is honored to help the Berkshire Food Project.

These donations will help provide essential aid to neighbors facing hunger, food insecurity, and social isolation by:

  • Serving healthy, no‑cost meals

  • Connecting individuals and families to valuable community resources

  • Ensuring dignity and respect in every interaction

Your small acts at the register ripple outward in big ways. The contributions show the power of community in tackling food insecurity, thanks to the generosity of Wild Oats shoppers.

A Berkshire Food Project regular shared their appreciation, saying,

"Lunch at the Berkshire Food Project is the best hour and a half of my day!"

Berkshire Food Project - More Than Meals: Building Community

Since 1987, the Berkshire Food Project has been a cornerstone of North Adams, offering 40,000 scratch-cooked meals in 2024 and aiming to meet even greater demand this year. Its welcoming space at the First Congregational Church fosters dignity, respect, and connection in the face of food insecurity and social isolation.

Berkshire Food Project

Founded by Williams College students in conjunction with Church members and others, BFP’s mission, from the start, has been as much about ending social isolation as feeding people.

Five days a week, their kitchen prepares 200 hot, nutritious meals from scratch with a team of dedicated volunteers who complete the task in just three hours. Lunch is served in a safe and welcoming dining room where guests can connect to community resources and one another. BFP also provides a takeout program and partners with other community organizations to reach food-insecure individuals at six locations across Northern Berkshire County.

BFP has fed an unprecedented number of meals in 2024. 8,000 more meals were served this past year than in 2023.

Their dining room is open Monday through Friday between 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. at the First Congregational Church, 134 Main St, North Adams, MA 01247. No questions asked… ALL ARE WELCOME for a no cost, no questions asked free meal!
