Cucumber Recall
Important Product Recall Notification: Cucumber Recall Due to Salmonella Risk
Dear Wild Oats Community,
We want to inform you of a product recall that may impact our shoppers. Earlier today, May 22, we were notified by Performance Food Service (a supplier for Black River Produce) of a recall on cucumbers due to a multistate outbreak of salmonella infections. This is a potential food safety concern, and we’re acting swiftly and responsibly to ensure your safety.
We received two cases of the affected cucumbers on May 15, and they were placed on our sales floor on May 16. As of this morning, we have removed all cucumbers from the sales floor, including those from other vendors, out of an abundance of caution.
We are currently reaching out to our other cucumber suppliers to verify whether their products were impacted. Once we receive confirmation that their cucumbers are unaffected, we will reorder, restock and make them available for purchase again.
In the meantime, we’ve begun contacting Wild Oats member-owners who, according to our system, may have purchased cucumbers between May 16 and today. If you believe you may have purchased cucumbers during this period and have questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience and thank you for your patience and understanding as we respond to this issue. Your safety is our top priority, and we remain committed to transparency and timely communication.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me directly at gm@wildoats.coop or by phone at 413-458-8060, ext. 13.
In cooperation and care,
Netse Lytle
