Wild Oats Market, a Community-Owned Cooperative in Williamstown, Massachusetts, seeks a
dynamic and visionary General Manager to lead its store to the next level. Founded in 1982, the Co-op serves 1,600 active members, with sales over $5 million a year. It employs approximately 50 individuals, with non-exempt staff represented by United Food & Commercial Workers International Union. The General Manager reports to a nine-member Board of Directors elected by the Co-op’s members.
Williamstown, set in the bucolic Berkshires hills, is home to Williams College, a top liberal arts
school. The community is a friendly mix of college students, residents and seasonal visitors who
come to enjoy hiking and biking, world-class art museums and an award-winning summer theater
festival. Wild Oats Market is a key player in this community.
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Co-op with
demonstrated skills in:
• Strategic thinking, leading to data-driven accomplishments and success
• Visionary leadership that communicates a compelling future aligned with mission, values and
• Business planning and finance budgeting that directs all financial operations to ensure a
profitable, growing business
• Managing and working closely with a dedicated staff and Board of Directors
