Our Curbside Pickup program has reached a level of popularity well beyond anything we imagined when we launched it six weeks ago.
Early each weekday morning, our dedicated Curbside team sets to work filling as many as 80 orders. Depending on the size of each one, it may take between 30 and 45 minutes to shop, bag and stow the order, process the payment, and later retrieve and deliver the groceries to your car.
We have received countless expressions of gratitude for offering this service, and the feeling is mutual: given the nature of this pandemic, it is beneficial to the entire community to have fewer customers in the store and we thank all of you for staying home and letting us do the shopping for you.
To help offset the cost associated with filling these orders, we have been charging a $5 service fee. As you can imagine, that amount doesn’t quite cover the additional staff time associated with fulfilling your order, more so after the co-op began paying employees a $2 per hour “Essential Worker Pay Premium” in mid-March.
So that we can continue offering you this service, beginning May 1st, we will be increasing the fee to $8 per order.
Thank you for your understanding and we look forward to continuing to serve you during this crisis.
